I have a Sony DVD 300 camcorded that records straight to a mini dvd. The camcorder only has a USB output, and a piece of software I just purchased requires a firewire connection. Is there a way to convert the usb signal to firewire via an external device? Pretty poor that a brand new camcorder only supplies usb outs.

I would suggest using your computer to accept the USB input from your camera. Remember, your new camera has USB 2.0, and under proper conditions can be very fast.

I've never worked with the dvds from any camcorders but, here goes.....
-Do you have a DVD-Rom? you should be able to pull the video off the dvd then convert it to what ever format the program your using uses. -
