Just hooked up my FW card and chose the XP movie maker to capture. Is this a stupid way to go? I chose best quality. Do other programs allow for a higer rez? I just want to crop some video,so is this program for retards? I dont want to miss the boat ,but I like the ease of this program. I do have Vegas, but it seems like a pain for general use.

p.s. there is an option on cam to record at a setting that will allow to add two audio tracks. Can I do it with XP MM?

  2. Since you say firewire card, I'm assuming it is DV.

WinDV is a simple, but effective capture app for DV. For editing, Ulead Videostudio is easy to use.

Windows XP Movie Maker is extremely simplistic.. not much good.

There is a DV option in WMM, which is much better than "best quality". If not, update your copy of WMM.

  4. I would not suggest the Windows XP Movie Maker for other reasons however; it is an extremely limited piece of software.
