    upon building my new comp i missed and jumped my music drive as the master to install xp, erasing all my music, ive since reconfigured and the drive is now empty, is there anyway io can recover these files with simple software...if so with what?...i really would like to know..holla back yall

    I am pretty sure there is software out there that can salvage much of that information. Sorry I can' help more.

  7. Yes. I was able to reconstruct more than 90% of the data on a 100Gig WD that got wiped accidently.

    Most of those recovery apps will give you a trial version that will show what it finds but won't recover it until you pay for it. They work good too, datas never really gone until it's overwritten. Just don't copy, install or put anything on the drtive until you recover your old files.

    yup i've tried one but can't remember the program i used it was a very good program...you can recover even those long past deleted files...try to google data recovery...and download the trial versions...
    hacking the Net using typewriter :D

    that may be my one problem, i had to delete the files when i formatted and installed windows xp, think that will hurt my chances of getting the files back

    i deleted also my files, then formatted my HD, and still was able to recover it...
    hacking the Net using typewriter :D

    Actually you should be OK providing you didn't intstall a bunch of things. You could be losing the data right now just by browsing the internet though. Most of those aps can be run directly from a CD. Use another computer to DL one and run it from the CD. Use your computer as little as possible.

    FYI I recovered the entire My Documents folder from a computer that had a fresh copy of XP installed on it. In some cases there was multiple copies because they had been opened and saved. Most if not all of your files should be recoverable.

    this program is off the chain, im getting back majority of my stuff while i write this, if i knew bout this lets say like 1 or 2 years ago, i wouldn;t have the problem im having now...thanks guys

    I guy I know installed a fresh copy of XP on his 160 GB, which was his data drive . So we are talking about a format and install of 2 Gb of OS...

    GetDataBack worked great for him.
