Here's my problem.. i'm trying to burn these dvd video ts files rip.
they are supposed to be region all.
i did nero dvd video burn. they burnt and the dvd plays in my JVC dvd player.
however in my Sony DVP-NC600 i get the "playback not permitted by area" error.
i have checked the dvds in DVD Decrypter to see what region and copyright and all is good as compared to dvds that worked.
what might be the work around? should i take these burnt dvds and rerip them?

ok so i've tried using dvd shrink.
after i tell it to just use like regions 1 and 2.. and it creates the iso.. i mounted it with nero image drive and checked the image with dvd decrypter and it still shows all regions.
after i burn the image it still wont' play in my dvd player.
any other thoughts on making it go just region 1? -
it has options for create iso, create iso and have dvd decrypter burn it, burn with nero and make vobs on HD
-
what's another application that might apply a hard Region setting?
thanks -
Hi all.
13erla, I'm not sure how you'd go about it, but I'm pretty sure it'd be fairly str8 forward to set one or more regions with IfoEdit.
You'd simply have to edit the IFO file(s) before burning the backup. -
Ok, I might have found something.
- Use IfoEdit to open the "VIDEO_TS.IFO" file from your backup.
- Click on VMGM_MAT.
- Find the line that says "VMG Category, Regional Mask Code" (6th line in my test file).
- Double-click it, change the value to 254, click "OK".
The change in region-coding will not appear str8 away.
- Save the file.
However, I haven't found where the region info is located in the other IFO files. -
Could it be your dvd is in Pal format? Once for the heck of it I tried a region free Pal disc in my Sony player and it displayed a message like that. I haven't had any trouble playing region free NTSC dvds in any of my Sony players yet.

i'm guessing that's what they are PAL.
cuz i do have a NTSC that is region free acording to dvd decrypter and it plays.
that's weak that sorny can't play PAL but JVC can.
stupid.. same goes for PS2 -
yes cough that's what i should do.
ok so i tried this out
https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=221928
to convert pal to ntsc.. i get a lot of blue on the top and the picture gets scrambled at times..
maybe i need to run the pal through a reencoding?
