I've done several searches and don't find anything that related to this particular problem, so if I missed it somewhere I apologize.
I recently had problems playing anything on my PC....even mpgs! I tried uninstalling all codecs and ffdshow. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling vid cards drivers and even changing to different driver versions twice. On 95% of all clips I get a grey screen and just sound. The other 5% shows the clips in red and green only. This sometimes is fixed after a reboot but only on the first file I play. It then has the same behavior as before with the gray screen when I attempt to view a second file.
I did recently upgrade to Direct X 9c if it makes any difference. I'm running Windows Server 2003.
Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.
Edit: vids play fine in Linux (Knoppix 3.4 kernel 2.6) so it's not a hw problem.
