Im looking for a good reliable backup program that i could either save to CD or DVD.....in receiving my new laptop last week I spent most of the weekend installing the video software I will be using as well as doing all the updates and patches for XP (I dont plan to deal with the SP2 right now) and now have a minty clean system, settings and all. I want to preserve that on a blank disc so that if my system ever has a problem to where I need to do a fresh installation again, I can do so without spending a whole day installing and updating. Thanks in advance.

At the moment I prefer Acronis True Image 8. It has a feature where you can install drive images you have made in virtual drives, so you can test everything and see what you've got on there. Norton Ghost 9 will have this feature, but until then it is Acronis True Image 8 for me. :P

I've only got TrueImage 6, but I'll second the recommendation. I found Ghost very difficult to grasp (admittedly it was an older version). Acronis seems much more verbose in it's guides as you go through the process, it's very easy to see what is going on.

I agree with IAIHMB and housepig, Acronis TrueImage 7 (it's 8.0 now). Great program. Does full image and incremental and does it from within Windows. Also creates a bootable version of itself for those nasty occasions. At $50 it's a steal.
