Hi, Newbie here.
Learning curve is going OK for burning.
A fair number of coasters, but thats OK this week.
Several questions, some are linked and some are free standing.
Would love any help at all with these.
Feel free to email me if you'd like.
The sooner I know, the sooner I can help others.
1) Can a 3.4G commercial DVD be ripped using DVD Backup and then the resulting Video_TS folder be used with Disc Imager and then burned with Disk Utility?
(I do not have DVD2one as of yet and was not sure if I need to use for such a small DVD file 3.4G.)
What did do was..
Load DVD.
Scanned each chapter for several seconds with DVD player.
(per Galactica tutorial for newbies. Minus the DVD2oneX part).
Closed DVD player.
Opened DVD BackUp
Processed the disc.
Dragged the resulting Video_TS folder to Disc Imager.
Open Disc Utility, clicked 'burn'. choose the .img file that Disc Imager created and started the burn.
Verified.
Plays on iMac and eMac.
Won't play on home player.
I am using Maxell Yellow DVD-R 4.7G discs.
That is what I did and ended up with a disc that plays on my eMac and iMac but not my home player.
The home player is a Panasonic S35, it almost plays the disc.
The 'play' window starts but then goes to 'stop'.
So, is it my technique, the media, the player ?
Thanks Again for the help.
I have been able to burn several successful discs already.
Best Rocco

Hi, newbie!
if the disc plays fine on your home computer, but does
not on your standalone player, chances are that the
player does not like DVd-R media.
Have you checked the
"DVD Player" compatability link over on the left
to see how your home player rates?
It can often save you headache, as many have posted
their results with specific players.
Now, my only other question:
Have you tested this same VIDEO_TS with the
supplied Apple DVD-R that came with your imac or emac?
( you should have gotten a free blank DVD-R
with the purchase of your computer, with your
system discs.) Test using that and report back."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

When I'm not here, Where can I be found?

Yes Sir, Thank You Sir. I appreciate the heads up on the spam warning.
I will check to see if I have the Apple DVD-r and try that and report back.
And no I forgot to check the compatibility chart and will do so now.
Thanks, I greatly appreciate the push in the right directiopn
