    Hello

I have encoded, authored and so on only to find that my "movie" is 20 megs to big to fit on a DVD (clever me)

I'd like to know what's the best (easiest) way to remove 1 or 2 minutes (the end credits) from an already authored .VOB file, I suspect that the VIDEO_TS.IFO or the VTS_01_0.IFO will have to be amended so the cutting software would have to take care of this.

    Thanks for the help

Why not load it into something like DVD Shrink and apply a little extra compression to the menus to make it fit ? The easiest solution I can think of.

There are no menus and I'd like to keep all parts with the same compression, right now I'm using DV tool and I can cut but I don't know how to modifiy and reindex the info files.

Another vote for DVDShrink or DVD2One here.

If you know how to cut VOBs, you can use IFOEdit to recreate the IFOs and BUPs for you.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Come on. Just use shrink. It's only 0.4% compression

That could make all the difference
    If in doubt, Google it.

You can edit video with TMPGEnc DVD Author and it surports
    DVD-VIDEO files.

Well for some mysterious reason I was never able to get TMPGENC DVD AUTHOR to run properly, so I cut the VOB file using DVTOOL and I recreated the IFO files using IFOEDIT and now I'm burning the thing on a RW disc to check and I'll post the results there.

About the 0.4% compression the fact is that I was having 20 megs extra on the disc and recompres the entire thing for 20 megs sounded a bit overengineering for me, easier to cut 10 seconds of end credits...

    Thanks for the help

    Buuuuuut,

In the 5 hours that this thread has gone on (your first and last post), you could have easily shrunk the movie and burned it. Sometimes the simplest (and sometimes redundant) answers are the best and easiest.

    Yes, true, BUUUUUUUT

I am on holiday on a f.....G modem connection, hence the 5 hours time.

the total process time for DVTOOL and IFOEDIT was more like 15 minutes (the longest being IFOEDIT who had to scan all the files) and the result seems to be OK, so the DVDSHRINK method IS indeed a bit overengineering for me.

Thanks to everybody for the help provided
