Hey stiltman, that looks just like my old house. Well, actually, most houses in Chicago have that same plan.
    His name was MackemX

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

I'm lazy and wait WAY to long to cut my nails. Females are often jealous of how long they get and how strong they are.

    oops was that outloud?

    = use the metric system? 7mil plus 15mil is 22mil, or 2.2cm.

Convert 1/2 to eigths first. Then add them up. The reduce if possible

    1/2 = 4/8 + 5/8 = 9/8 = 1 1/8

  16. I was being a tad facetious on the math thing (although forgot my smiley)

But when i'm doing furniture construction in my basement it tough to look at plans denoting 1/8 scale and you making mods and doing some 1/16 scale cuts or measurements .... math does get a little hairy sometimes

In looking up measurement info (couldn't remember the name for the english system) I noticed the the term shaftment (width of the hand and outstretched thumb) to also closely measure 6 inches.... This one made me chuckle.

At least you guys were smart enough to bail on it at the turn of the century. The US... still stuck in the 19th century when it comes to measurement.

You figure, since 1100 AD, when they developed the Roman / English Foot and Yard mesurements they (US) could have adapted something easier to use --- hmmm... smells like metric to me.

It's usually referred to as the imperial system, as it's what we forced people in our Evil Empire to use :P

On something the scale of a house or a 200 mile road, imperial is fine. a CAD/CAM system is going to get confused with non-absolute measurements. you'd put in 2/3" and the poor thing would be there for weeks trying to get it one decimal closer.....

Both systems have their flaws, metric is just easier to work with on paper, in your head and on a calculator.

    Hmm, why being single rules:

House - 4/2 ~2600 sq ft, 4.5 acres or a river between neighbors
Cabin - 2/2 ~1700 sq ft, 6 acres with 300' Lake Superior shoreline
Car - aging but fast, but if you have to ask me what it is you're a knob :P
Computers - 4 in all, 2 pretty fast ones

    Things to improve:
New Car - Mitsu Lancer Evo RS (I don't like luxury bits)
Boat - my 18.5' Lund Tyee doesn't reel in the babes like it does the fish
Home Theater - only a 34" plasma, Yahama receiver, and JBL speakers

    Things I take for granted:
Violin - 1772 Ferdinand Gagliano; I bet you didn't know I played violin since I was 10 years old!
My liquor cabinet - 5 different single malts and several good bottles of wine and I hardly every get to them anymore
My humidor - mostly Ashton Cabinets, some Fuentes,Partagas, AVOs, Gurkhas, and my favorites, Zino Grand Masters. I'm not a habitual smoker, can't stand cigarettes. Again, have no time to spend an hour on a good cigar

    Only to excess

Somebody warn the parents of the high school girls in Northie's math class- he considers them "flowers trying to bloom" and he sees himself as the gardener

Well seeing as my only two serious relationships ended up in the girl cheating on me I slumped back into being terminally single, also known as "I'm too lazy so let them come to me". Would I give it all up for wife and kids? Probably. Depends on the wife mostly

I'm still young though, plenty of time to find the right one. Current girlfriend is 22

You know what's ironic? you all denounce the metric system, yet at the same time americanize it. it's LitRE CentimetRE and KilometRE. metre and meter have totally different meanings. at least you can spell gram correctly......
Plus, we buy Petrol, not Gas, we drive in miles, work out our economies in miles per gallon (that's english gallon not american gallon) yet buy our petrol in litres. and some people probably pay in euros.
We buy our beer in pints though.

In one month I will move into my first house at the age of 25.

In seven months my wife and I, will have our first child. (still too early to know sex.)

In one year I will have graduated from law school with $0 debt.
