I currently have the following players and can not convert them to be macro-free.

Cyberhome DV-500 - The hack that I know about is the one where you have to disable MV every time.

GoVideo DV2130 - The Zenith hack is not supported on my player. I can't get to the EEPROM menu. Manufactured Nov. 2003.

I've spent to better part of today looking at all the hacks but I can't find a current player that I can buy of the shelf today. Please make a recommendation about which player to look at. I'm not looking for anything special. A basic player that supports most common formats. Also, I want to spend less than $100US.

Philips DVP642 is macro free out of the box and plays DIVX. There around $70.00. Buy one and check to see if it's still macro free, you could simply return it if the current production has macro turned on.

Yes, I was reading about the Philips DVP642. And its true that macrovision is disabled right out of the box. But reading this thread the CGMS/A is still enabled. Meaning the Philips player can be recorded on a VCR but not the a dvd recorder.

    This is the thread:

A full frame TBC will allow you to copy as it will filter out both MACROVISION and CGMS/A

The AVT-8710 by AV TOOLBOX can do this as well as the DataVideo TBC-1000 which can be bought from a variety of places such as VIDEOGUYS.COM

If you have a stand alone DVD recorder and need to copy from a DVD player or even from pre-record VHS tapes then such a TBC device is almost essential."

    Any other ideas???

Does anyone know how to get in touch with John "FulciLives" Coleman?

I've tried PM and e-mailing him with the information found in this site.
