I am learning how to compress the audio of a DIVX using Virtualdub.
In the Full Processing Mode > Compression tab,I choose MP3 > I was expecting to see something like 128kb/s...41,000hz as a choice,
but all I can see is the highest setting of 56kb/s...24,000hz.
Am I missing something ?
thanks

I think this is also in VirtualDub Faq on their website.
The mp3 codec that is installed in your system is a basic mp3 codec that is free to use, but that's the maximum bitrate you can use.
In order to bump it up to 128 I think you would have to pay for it, not sure to whom, or somehow acquire the better version of this codec (not sure if there are freeware one such as lame mp3 codec - this is waaaay beyond my knowledge but I could give you a head start).
I never got to use mp3 properly codec with DivX movies so I just stuck with VCDs mostly. Much simpler to deal with, many free encoders available as well. -
Download and install lame mp3,then choose lame mp3 in the audio compression settings in virtualdub.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
Its ok..
I can see Lame now.
I did'nt realize that I had to right click on the Lame ACM and click install (I thought it was an auto install).
Thanks guys."Today is only yesterdays tomorrow"
