  1. I just backed up Kill Bill Vol. 2 on a DVD-R. I used Mactheripper 2.0, DVD2ONE (constant compression) and Toast 6. Problem is that when I play the DVD, it jumps randomly from scene to scene, making the DVD unwatchable. I've never encountered this problem with any backup. Is this a new form of copy protection? Has anyone else experienced this problem? I have a Sony DVD player that's about two years old.

  2. Have you re-run the same steps? Possibly a glitch. Does it play fine in dvd player while watching from the VIDEO_TS folder? If so, there shouldn't be any issues, just (maybe on a DVD-RW) try to re-burn.

I'm on a PC but I've run into similar problems with DVD2ONE. The author is an idiot and doesn't respond to glitch reports. Is there another similar program you could use on a MAC?

Just did this video myself, tested it in the home
player, and the mac, both play flawlessly,
    from beginning to end.

    My Questions:
    1. What TYPE OF MEDIA did you use ( speed)?
    2. What TYPE OF MEDIA did You Use ( Manufacturer)?
    3. When you burned this TYPE OF MEDIA, did
you verify it in Toast 6 after the burn?

    post back.
i used TDK branded media, 2x, did verification afterwards,
DVd plays fine in settop and on G4.

It depends on the version of DVD2ONE that you use. For example I backed up Alien Quadrilogy as movie only. Version 1.40 screwed up the seamless branching and resulted in a movie with repeating scenes but version 1.30 made a perfect copy. Remember I'm on A PC.

  7. Thanks to everyone for responding quickly to my question.

I'm using Memorex 4X DVD-R media. This media is priced right and is reliable. I'm using Toast 6 and I always verify my backups since it's well worth the wait. I burn on 4X, which takes 15 minutes to write and another 13 minutes to verify. I've never had a problem with a backup not working, except when the original had a problem. I'm starting to wonder if the original is buggy.

I'll try to rebackup the disc with the newer version of Mactheripper 2.0.1, run DVD2One again and reburn another disc. By the way, I sometimes backup movies on Memorex DVD-RW discs and I've had no problems with them. Thanks.

Maybe a stupid question, but are you sure your DVD player isn't on random? A friend was listening to a music CD on random, then popped in Road to Perdition and the scenes kept skipping around. Of course, he thought the movie was hip and trendy with out-of-sequence scenes, but then the credits started rolling after about 45 minutes.

Maybe another stupid point (made for chuckles, not to insult), but you know that the story of Kill Bill is told out of order, right?

  10. I did a backup of Evil Dead and have the same exact problem. It plays perfectly on my Mac, yet my Sony seems to jump around (skips like every 4 chapters).

Out of curiosity, did you use the UOPs disabling function in MTR? If so, try without.

As in, you have the 'disable DVD UOPs' checkbox in the UOPs sheet checked or unchecked?
