i'm using ulead videostudio8 and having problems with capturing and trimming videos.

With the trimming of videos it goes through the render process fine of the clip i want to keep, but when i play it back there is only a amx of 3 secs of video there...anyone know why this is?

Also my capture card is Adaptec2010 and is capturing fine using the MyDVD software (software hasnt enough options). I want to use videostudio to capture as well and although it knows what my capture card is, its saying theres a problem with my capture driver ( using the latest driver).

If anyone knows the reasons behind these two problems i'm getting with videostudio8 i'd really like the help so i can get the editing done i need the way i'd like it......thanks all

Is it 3 sec, then goes blank and keeps playing, or just 3 sec total? Is this happening when you play it with Media Player? What is your file system, ntsf or fat32? Your saying when VS is rendering it does seem to keep going past the 3 secs? Does the file size look right for 3 sec of video? What codec are you rendering in? Have you tried rendering in a different codec just to see if it works?

I've been using VS for years and I too at one time had trouble with the capture drivers. I think the drivers that it ended up using came from the firewire card install disk. I've only used an ATI AIW card or firewire for my captures so I don't know what to tell you about your Adaptec card.
    Yesterday I downloaded the world,
But it took up too much space so I had to purge it.

VS 8's editor SUCKS Big Time! It is user hostle. Cuts are nowhere near exact-in fact you get more than you want. Use Cuttermaran-no re-rendering. It is quick and easy to use. Also, TmpGenc is coming out with an editor that should be good. I just use VS 8 to assemble the edited cut clips and add effects, titles, sound, whatever. Then I can burn with VS 8.0, which does a good job, or save to a file.

LOL Yeh, I got the same shock going from 7 to 8. 8's got some pretty buggy crap going on. Their ad blows about their new Storybook transition -- that goes nuts half the time and puts a still frame in where the transition is supposed to be You'd think if you were going to brag about some new feature you'd sure make sure it works!

I guess you've tried starting a new project and re-adding the clips. I vaguely remember something happening like this before and I think I repositioned the clips on the time-line and it worked or something like that. Not much help...sorrry
