Got a new plan from T-Mobile today along with a new phone:
A Nokia 6010
For some reason, the buttons are a little harder to press than my old Nokia phone but the screen is prettier. Basically, I opted for the cheapest phone (for my plan) with the biggest rebate.
Anyway, post pictures of your mobile phones.

Here is mine. I got it a while ago. Before all these yuppies with their flip phones were all over the place.
His name was MackemX
What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend? -
What do you think of it? It's not too late to return mine.Originally Posted by aanaravs

I have a crappy LG flip phone. They just blocked aim today at work so I"m thinking of getting a PDA phone with net access.

I've still got an older Nokia 6550. It was one of the smallest at the time I got it, but the new ones are so small they almost entirely fit in your ear

If Sony put out one of those slider phones would with better features they would be quite neat I think. -
Yep. So small that if you sat down wrong you could lose it for a dayOriginally Posted by Flaystus

This is my current phone, Sony Ericsson P900. Great phone.

This will be my next phone when it is released. Motorola MPX. I really like the fact that it flips as landscape for a PDA and clamshell for a phone.

What do those cost Craig?
-
Its difficult to accurately price them because of the subsidies you get with your service provider and I think we get a much better deal over here than you do in the US, phones are also one of the few things we seem get quite a bit earlier than you do in the states. You can get the P900 sim free for around £450.00, I paid £185 on contract about 6-7 months ago. You can probrably get then for free on a high tariff contract now. The good thing is you can always reduce your tariff after the first 1-3 months. I don't know what the MPX will cost, its due for release at the end of 2004 - beginning 2005. I would guess sim free for around £600-£700. But you should be able to pick it up on contract for around the £200-£300 mark. And the prices obviously drop over time.

Ouch. Expensive. I do like the screen on the P900 though. They've come a long way with the displays. My pathetic Nokia just has the monochrome display. I've thought about upgrading, but even with a break for trade-in it'd still set me back about $250 for the one I want. Plus, we have 4 cell phones in the house - one for each member, so to upgrade all 4 would be expensive. The Nokia doesn't look so bad to keep for that much moneyOriginally Posted by Craig Tucker

I am a bit of a gadget nut, mobile phones are one of my weaknesses.

That photo you snapped off for the class photo wasn't too bad considering it was a phone. There was enough resoution to work with when I color-shifted and improved the contrast for the meeting picture
-
The MPX is going to have a 1.3 megapixel camera with flash so should be a lot better.

888888: It is a great phone. Really depends what you need it for...

Will you be needing an update of the class pic when you get it? What would be funny would be if you could get ahold of a Chewie mask for the picOriginally Posted by Craig Tucker

What would be easier would be to just let nothcat doctor it.Originally Posted by Capmaster

I am thinking of a Nokia 6230 to replace my current Samsung V200:

Cobra -
I am thinking of the same phone Cobra. I currently have a nokia 8910i, I can sell that for quite a bit.
I have a friend who has the 6230, really cool phone. -
I'm thinking of getting it on an O2 200 contract. £30 per month for 50 texts and 200 crossnet minutes. I am currently on an O2 100 contract - £25 for 100 texts and 100 minutes, but my average bill is about £38 since I talk loads and barely text.
Have you seen the price of the data lead for it? USB --> Phone wire, £40!! My friend bought one off eBay, but it's been six weeks now and still nothing. He's been had. But for a wire, that's ridiculous...
I'm going to get this for it too.
What's the best deal you've found, Russ? -
I'm getting mine on an upgrade. At the moment it is going to cost me £100. I am on the same contract as you but with voda's.
I am trying to get them down to free. Just drop in "but I can get it free with 3 and loads more minutes" -
If I were to upgrade to the 6230 and an O2 200 contract, it would cost me £170. If I cancel my contract and get it as a new purchase, it is free. Guess which option I took...
-
But won't you lose your phone number?
-
I don't mind losing my number.
-
I have had my number for 6 years. So many contacts both personal and work have my number
I would have to sepnd a few hundred pounds telling everyone of the new number. -
If you push them and ask to speak to your account manager they will normally try and match the deal you can get for taking up a new contract.
-
You can port your number across for around £20.
-
Yeah its called a PAK code isn't it ?
I think vodafone has the best network coverage though
