    I am new to this so I hope someone will be able to help me clear my mind.

    I got a Zenith 413 DVD player. It does not play VCDs. Is it possible to modify the firmware of this player so that it can play VCDs? Some of my DVDs freeze when I skip to the next chapter. Is this the DVD or player problem? My previous one (APEX) would play them fine.

    If you have checked the 'DVD Players' to the left, apparently it won't play VCD according to the info there. You might do a 'Google' search for the player model and see if there are further comments. As you mentioned APEX will play almost anything.
