  1. Hello.

Is there a FILTER to avoid those"squares","blocks" while playing divx???

    Specially in dark scenes...

    How are they called????

if I knew how they are popular called, I could startup a research about it.

    Thanxs

  2. "Macroblocks"

I use the BlockBuster filter with AVISynth, this helps somewhat. Tmpgenc has a "Soften block noise" option, this does help also. The Mainconcept encoder has noise reduction filter, but I haven't really looked at it.

You could try and lower the color a little (darken it somewhat) while playing
the video. I think that Zoomplayer soppose to be pretty good at this, last
    I played with it.

  5. Doesn't the Divx (and Xvid) codec have a "Film Effect" option on the decoding options... As I understand it, this adds a little grain to the playback picture, this could do something to hide the macrosblocks.

Also, the latest Xvid codec has a "Deblocking" option in the decoding options, can you change the fourCC code in a Divx file, so its played back with the Xvid codec? ("Nic's FourCC changer" is included with the codec).
