Gday, im having a bit of trouble getting a SVCD to burn correctly in Nero 5.5

Before i get on with it the thing i am trying to burn is the Star wars Episode II Forbidden Love Trailer (Quicktime Rip to SVCD done in TMPGEnc) and then 6 parts of the making of Star Wars Episode II (all Quicktime Rips to SVCD done in TMPGEnc).

After making all the files i then merged them together with Camel MPEG Joiner.

So anyway, i have this file after joining which is about 550 megs, and i wanted to burn it to an SVCD (duh)

I burnt it with Nero 5.5 and it all went successfully, but when i play it in my player, it plays the first part (the forbidden love trailer) but then the rest is just black...

no sound or video. I checked the underside of the cd and it definitely wrote something to take up 90% of the disc...

the only thing i can think of is that im not allowed to merge with program like camel mpeg joiner when im dealing with SVCD's, because its playing the first file i added to the merge list, but not the rest.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    - Dan

I have not had that problem but heres some ideas.
Can you view the whole file after joining them?
Did you use same settings for all parts?

if nothing helps try demuxing the final file and then remuxing in BBmpeg. that can solve problems that occur for no understandable reason.

no i cant view the file after joining... but TMPGEnc did say that i would need a DVD software player to view it, so i loaded up PowerDVD and tried, but it wouldnt open (i dont think powerDVD is designed to play anything but DVD Discs)

i might try re-encoding them and making 100% sure they had the same settings

what is 'demuxing' and 'remuxing' ?

  4. powerdvd is an mpeg2 player....that includes .vob/.mpg/.mpv/.m2v. it will also play any file you can open in windows mediaplayer. i suspect the properites of the joined files were not identical. why join them at all? burn them as seperate svcd tracks

Stan is right, why bother joining them at all.

If you absolutly want to re encode them an make sure the settings are identical.

Demuxing is seperating sound and picture. muxing is putting them together. re-muxing is putting them together after have seperating them, re-demuxing is..
