  1. I burned my first dual layer DVD yesterday and it works perfectly on all of my DVD drives except one. A Samsung DVD/VCR player would not red the DL disc, but it will read single layer DVD's. My Sony and Toshiba DVD player's have no problems at all playing the DL disc. I used Nero BurningROM 6.3.1.17 and copied Saving Private Ryan (I own it) widescreen onto a Ritek DL DVD+R I bought from newegg.com. Here is a link.

My friend has a Samsung DVD/VCR combo. In some ways, it's tremendously tolerant of certain movies. But when it comes to blank DVD media... it's pretty picky believe it or not. It'll play just about any CD-based video I throw at it, but if I so much as LOOK at a DVD blank wrong, it won't play.

I wouldn't worry too much about it if it plays in all your other players.

Quick question, what burner did you use?

  4. I used a TEAC DVD Burner with a hacked BIOS to make it a Lite-On SOHW-832S.

Yeah, I was pretty happy when it burned with no errors. I kept having nightmarish flashbacks to the early days of CD burning and to see DVD's go so smoothly is nice.

I'm not concerned with the Samsung, I just used it to see if it would work. The Sony is my main one.
