  2. Don't see why you call it a flaw in SP2 since it affects prior versions of Windows as well. It's more a flaw with Windows not SP2, and I'd say it's relatively minor since it requires active user participation.

  3. If you have a good software firewall... say Kerio... and make good use of Adaware, Spybot and some antivirus software do you really need SP2... any other advantages of it.

    I guess the little Windows Update icon and balloon on the taskbar weren't enough.

    Actually I prefer Fedora Core 2 linux as an alternative.

    Lot of security issues have been fixed in IE. The "do you wish to install spyware" dialog box will no longer be initiated by the webpage, instead it will be in placeholders on the page. The user will have to directly click on the object to get the dialog box. The open/save as dialog box also can no longer be initiated by a web page. The link for the file will have to point directly to the file. My personal favorite (but not really a security issue) no more pop ups.
