  1. i am attempting to load a 1.2GB mpeg into tmpgenc and it crashes every time. i dont think its due to memory as i have 768MB, but i could be wrong. any workarounds, advice would be great. oh, btw, tmpgenc will not load any of my avi files either. please help. thanks

  2. Maybe your avi files are Divx movies..TMPGEnc has alots of trouble opening up DiVx...if they are try to uncommpress it and extract the audio to wave

Use VirtualDub to rip the sound to a wav file, (a guide is in the 'How to Convert' section); then load TMPGEnc with the original movie file as the video source and the wav file as the sound source. This works more often and it is MUCH faster than using TMPGEnc to rip and convert both video and sound at once.
