still having trouble fitting mpeg movie files onto disc (4.7

sorry about this gents and ladies but i still cant get 2 mpeg files onto a 4.7gb disc. I have split audio and video using dvd2avi then using the TMPGenc conversion system i now have two mpeg files with these properties
file 1 - file format PAL DVD
file size 2177,466 KB
video attributes 24 bits 720 X 576
25 frames/sec
data rate 5110kbps
Audio format mpeg layer 2 files
audio attributes 48000hz 16 bit stereo
bit rate 224 kbps

file 2 -has the same properties but is 3,049,372 kb in size and has a date of 7999kbps apart from those differences both files have the same properties so can any of you fine people tell me how i can get these to files to fit on the 4.7gb disc. Im new to the svcd to dvd scene so if you can give me some step by sep help on this it would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advanced

I take it you are trying to put AVIs onto a DVD? A 800MB AVI, when encoded to DVD compliant MPEG, just barely fits on a DVD.
