  1. Two things,

    1. Just an observation. I've looked at a lot of DVD ripping software and can only find two types.

    - Software that backs up automatically to avi files.
    - Software that demuxes DVD video streams ( DVD Decrypter, VOBEdit)

Is there any software that rips directly to Mpeg video, (1 video stream, 1 audio stream). What I want is the original Mpeg Video from the DVD. I've never seen a guide for this either.

    2. Currently I'm ripping video with DVD Decrypter to *.m2v files. When I'm done the file always thinks it's almost twice as long as it really is. (a 1h30m movie becomes 2h40m)

The actual video is fine. It plays well. It remuxes back with video fine. But maintains it's incorrect length designation.

Use DVDdecrypter to rip the DVD to one VOB file (chose 'none' for file splitting) then just change the .VOB extension to .mpg

  3. Thanks for the reply.

I've seen this suggested before but it's usually followed by replies stating that this isn't the proper way to get the mpeg.

I believe the problem is that the created mpeg file can have several audio or subfile streams that get copied as well.

    I'll try it though, thanks.

That is correct, but you do get the unadulterated mpg.

If you want to remove audio streams then you can extract the one you want and then demux/remux.
