  1. I have a Leadtek WinFast DV2000 TV card & using the WinFast PVR Tuner/capture software.
I have tuned many TV channels, but even though the picture & colour quality is great & the motion is synchronized with the audio, the channel frame rate seems to be just a bit slower & sluggish, compared to a real TV.
It’s not terrible but the motion isn’t as natural as my real TV.
I live in Europe & all tuned channels are PAL.

I checked the settings of the card & software, but I didn’t find any option to fix this.

    My system:
    P4 2.4GHZ
    768MBRAM PC800
    GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB
    SB Live 5.1
    WinXP PRO SP1

    Also...

What’s the best Bitrate mode to choose, when capturing from a TV-Antenna signal into mpeg2 codec?

    Variable Bitrate
    Or…
    Constant Bitrate?

I don’t want to lose any frames or witness jerkiness in the final video.
Also I’m thinking about capturing in this resolution: 720x576 PAL

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

Jerkiness is either 1) dropped frames or 2) deinterlace
    Both are bad.

  3. How can you tell the difference?
    I think it's a case of deinterlace.

    How do I fix it?

    I just checked.
Yes overlay mode is enabled & there is another option: "Closed Captioning" which is not checked.

But they're both "grey" & can't change them even if I wanted to?!

    Hhmm...?

Also "time shifting quality setting" is set to optimal quality.

Is this happening on the PC screen view or in the captured file??

If on the PC screen view it may be that the screen refresh is too slow causing a slow frame rate effect. If the PC screen is OK and the capture files are strange it may well be dropped frames..

Frame rate rule of thumb .. 720 x 576 5Meg bits should be Ok..
