Agreed. I have a high post count, and I willingly admit that I know very little about video when compared to the likes of lordsmurf, Baldrick, Sefy, teegee420 (missing) and a whole host of other experts here. I answer questions when I can, and have a laugh while I'm at it. I have never once flamed anyone for asking questions, even if they are obvious.

I visited the forum and read the guides for about a year and a half before I decided to sign up and post anything. Certainly join dates and post counts really don't mean much around here. I think we all know that. Reasonably intelligent questions and helpful answers about the video hobby are important, but I find the useless post whoring OT threads to be fun and entertaining... and a great way to "get to know" some of the regulars.

I've seen some members on this site are acting if their post counts entitle them to some special status and that people that post less are uninterested in the site or dont come here enough to care and then they get lambasted in their messages. Let me tell you right now, post counts are 100% MEANINGLESS - they are no indication of your skill level or your interest.

I am not discriminatory. I will jack-up an Indolikaa Special for any wad that deserves it, regardless of post count or longevity on this forum.

If you have this attitiude that you are post count king or want to be, ask your self, did you actually help X number of people, or provide X bits of useful information to the site, or did you just post X silly quips.

I'll betcha my 4,569 posts have been far more helpful to people on this forum than your 270 posts. For one, I have a sense of humor...

2nd gripe is with the non-sense OT posts that seem to be growing. While I can't say one way or another where you want to spend your time, some of these are down right ridiculous. If a newbie comes on the site with a simplistic question, everyone blasts him or her as wasting their time, yet then people feel its worthy of their time to contribute to the retarded thread "Do You Masterbate". Yes its all free speach, but it takes away from the professionalism of the site - why do we need it? Why aren't there some guidelines for OT threads? Go over to the Vegas Video forum and you will see what I mean. When someone posts OT, it usually about something technically related.

Mr. Tygrus, if you are going to survive your continued existence here, you must learn a few key rules. Shall we?

1) In regards to 'blasting newbies' who ask simplistic questions, please open your copy of Dr Khan's Guide to the Newbie Ettiquette and turn to page 322. Repeat after me...

2) You were granted many rights upon your birth into this world, Mr. Tygrus. Among them was the right to speak your mind without fear, which you have done. However, when you infer that people are retarded simply because they choose to reply to a thread entitled, "Do You Masturbate?" you are crossing the line between expression your opinion and insulting someone's intelligence. Your inability to masturbate does not allow you the right to insult those of us who have mastered the technique and feel a need to discuss the matter in-depth.

Oh, and by the way, there are guidelines for the Off-Topic thread. They are clearly stated at the forum header for the Off-Topic thread. Please repeat after me, Mr. Tygrus...

I'll admit last weekend I had the strongest urge to do one of the following as a practical joke:

1) Close OT for a day ...just to see how many people would go ballistic
2) Go through the forums and ban every active member
3) Edit others' posts by adding praises about me
4) Give everyone in OT an additional 5,000 posts credit
5) Change the AUP with some creative, and impossible physical acts thrown in as a penalty for noobs not reading the guides first
6) Change my own user name to "Baldrick" and go nuts with flames ...just to see who would fight back
7) Edit tgpo's posts so it sounds like he no longer likes MacIntoshes and is considering buying a used Packard Bell 486 for video work

Then I woke up from my dream, and with my first coffee, moved a thread about DVD Writers from the Newbie Forum to the correct one Ho hum ....... back to reality

Hmmm....and here all this time I have had to click on a topic to read it.
