What can and can't you use for your avatar????

Hello,
I was wondering, can you use a dvd screen capture for your avatar? In other words, could you use a freeze frame from a regular movie???

My current one is from a off air broadcast so I figured there wouldn't be an issue with it.

Well,I know you cant use "The Perfect Thong" Copyrighted material doesnt seem to be a problem. I've use a bunch in my Avatars. Just use whatever till someone complains.

From what I've observed, the only concerns on this forum tend to be from users who find others avatars offensive or obscene, take Dr. Gee's The Perfect Thong, for example.

My avatar is a screengrab from a movie in my collection, Scarface.

It is unlikely you will get a yellow card if someone has a problem with it. As long as you change it.Pretty much the only ones I can remember having to be changed were the thong and one that flashed-Shut--The--****--Up!

Thanks! I just wanted to make sure before I did a bunch of screen caps from Star Wars, LOTR, etc.. I didn't want to get a warning or banned for something as measley as a picture.

Well tonight I'll go grab a few snapshots of favorite movies and resize them for the avatar. I'll swap the pictures each week like I did for my movie quotes I did a little while ago.

Personally I don't think the perfect thong image is obscene or offensive and shrunk down to 80x80 pixels it would be hard to make out.....

Other forums give you the option of turning off having to view signatures & avatars, but for some reason that feature has been turned off on this forum. You could set it in your profile, see?

I wonder what gives with that? I sure would like the option of not having to view them & I don't see that option in the profile menu.....

If that was my STFU avatar you are referring to, it had to be changed because of the flashing - the content didn't ruffle any mod's feathers AFAIK.

Also, no avatars with the batboy animated stick figure that Northcat was so good to share with us. Someone actually tried using that. I can't think of a single more offensive avatar than that one ...the perfect thong pales in comparison to the credibility damage this site could suffer from that batboy being viewed by industry types lurking in the tech forums. It has "bad image" written all over it. Funny as hell, but not appropriate for an avatar here

I don't think it would be wise to show anyone screwing anything in an avatar. I'm surprised that this:



was allowed as long as it was. Maybe because it wasn't animated. Still, with the climate being what it is, I wouldn't try it.

Remember that your avatar isn't limited to OT just because the post is here. It appears all over the board in every post you've ever made.

I agree.... faceless and nameless... the JV screwing the sheep is much worse and I even find some of Fulcilives pics a tad worse. IMO
