For a while i've been printing CD labels and applying them.Because it looks neat and i hate simply writeing on my discs with a sharpie marker as it looks like crap.
But i'm really,REALLY sick of having to apply CD labels. Its just too much trouble and a hassle for me.So what are decent and inexpensive CD printing devices out there?
I'm just looking for something inexpensive, basic and that can nicely print black&white text onto discs.Color would be nice for a small image or two,but otherwise is not necessary.
So whats a good unit there?
And can CD/DVDs that are'nt meant to be printed on,still done as so? It does'ent need to look great just Ok.

It would take very little work if you already had a published hack with good details, look around maybe. Figuring it out the first time would be the work.
And the ink won't even absorb into discs without the right surface. Even if you sprayed it with clear it'd run together etc. I have thought about checking matte clear paints, the right type might even absorb ink. But even if you found it by the time you're done you didn't save much over premade discs.
R200 and printable discs is pretty much the best way to go.

Keep in mind that even with inkjet printable discs, the ink can smudge and smear. Some people "finish" their printed discs with a couple of thin coats of something like Krylon ultra clear (I think that's what it is called, anyway).

I modified my canon i550 into a cd/dvd printer and it prints dvd's great. A few seconds of demodding and it prints photographs as good as the day I bought it. I have a quart of each color of ink so I won't be buying a new printer for a while.
With the money you save on ink and the quality of the print, I don't think you can do much better until canon actually releases one here.
