    Hi

I just noticed that when I finalize a DVD here in JVC DR-M10 it creates only the VIDEO_TS folder and does not create the Audio_ts folder
    So i have few questions
    1. does that mean that the DVDs will not play on many DVD players?

Because I just sent a DVD to my friend in USA( I am in Europe) recorded on JVC DR-M10 and today she wrote me back she cannot watch it her dvd player so I was wondering if this is the Audio_ts folder problem or
    NTSC / PAL problem

I have recorded the DVDs from PAL VHS tapes so my question is will these DVDs play on USA dvd players because there is no region code as such and I thought DVD players play either NTSC or PAL
( I just finalized the DVD in JVC DR-M10 and then made DVD copy in Nero to send to my friend)

    Please help will be appreciated

PS: Also she compalined that the sound level is bit low is it possible to control the recording level of audio in JVC DR-M10

  2. I think it is most likely a NTSC\PAL problem, could be her tv, our could be her dvdplayer...

I think multi system tvs and dvdplayers are more common in Europe than in USA, as far as I have seen atleast. (May not be true )

About the AUDIO_TS folder, I don't think that is the problem, because it is not required on a DVD movie. Actually there are retail movies without this folder

The region code should be just fine...

Usually, the AUDIO_TS folder is there for compatibility reasons, but doesn't make a difference if its not there. the AUDIO_TS folder has nothing to do with the VIDEO_TS folder, both completely different formats.

AUDIO_TS folder is used for DVD AUDIO (nothing to do with DVD VIDEO) and is high resolution audio, 24bit/96kHz in 5.1 surround and 24bit/192kHz in stereo. Current dvd players will not play DVD AUDIO, a DVD AUDIO compatible player is needed.

I think multi system tvs and dvdplayers are more common in Europe than in USA, as far as I have seen atleast.
    Yes, that is correct.

Hermit, in your case, it is the NTSC/PAL issue. In Europe, most dvd players and TVs can play both NTSC and PAL, however this is not the case in USA. The majority of dvd players and TVs in USA are restricted to playback NTSC only
