Not a very good photoshop job, text isn't even straight with the sign...
Tell him you want to see a picture of him sticking his finger in his assistants butt LOL!"Terminated!" :firing: -
I wrote him back asking for a handwritten sign instead of a printed one...he quickly replied with this.

Dear Madam,
I am in receipt of your last email. I do not understand the purpose of the picture. I sent you the first picture just to show a little effort in ensuring that you receive your winnings. I do not understand your need for further proof. I have earlier provided you with a letter of Guarantee to assure you of the legitimacy of this transaction.
Note that I will send you no further picture or Guarantee. If you still feel unsecure, and do not wish to proceed with your claims, kindly inform me, and we will make arrangements to return back your winnings to Protea Games as unclaimed.

I told him I needed the sign written in his hand-writting. He quickly responded with this.
"You have been in correspondence with an FBI field agent...blah blah blah...you will have 24 hours to bring yourself to the nearest FBI liason (I don't know any good terminology) or face graver concequences!!"SmileSmile

How about:
Include copy of last correspondence and add.
I think we should offer him $1000 in exchange for sending us his picture. I think the special agent there may be able to locate him if we send him the money. Will the home office authorize the funds?

You guys are relentless, LOL.
Give the guy a break, he's just trying to earn a (dis)honest living. -
Well, I asked for ANOTHER picture again!! This was his reply!!

Dear Madam,
I am in receipt of your last email. I do understand that the amount is the last one you have hence the need for your cautiousness. However you must understand that it is not very convenient for me to ask a staff to take a picture just to assure you. We are a finance/security firm and we are faced with a lot of clients on a daily basis. It is out of our line to take photographs and present to customers. I only sent you the first photograph to assure you of the seriousness of this transaction. I put in that extra effort just to ensure that you receive your winnings. It is however not possible for me to do the same now. I actually tried to summon somebody today to take a picture, and nobody could create time. I also personally do not see the point. I have sent you two pictures to assure you. I also sent you a Letter of Guarantee signed by myself and our company attorney. I am even presently unsure if the picture you request will clear your doubt. From our communication and documentation I have sent you, if you still are unsure that you are speaking with a real person, then I honestly do not see the point of sending you another picture.
Like I have stated in my last email, I am sending you no further picture as it is not convenient for me. I feel I have done all to convince you that this transaction is for real. However if you still have doubts, then you may decide to forfeit your winnings. Finally note that we have to complete your claims process ASAP hence my suggestion that you make the payment yesterday. We may be forced to return back your winnings to Protea Games if this transaction is not completed soon.

Ask for the mailing address.
Then send him a $10.00 dollar check and see if it gets cashed. Then you have him for theft, and conspiracy for theft, and a way to track him back to his back and signature. You'll still be out $10.00, but you might actually be able to send the sucker to prison. Really should contact a law enforcement agancy before doing this.
Or you may simply mailbomb the bastard.
EDIT: insert fraud not theft -
Actually, in all this I did send a quick email to the FBI and was surprised to get a response saying. This was sent by the FBI to me a few weeks ago when this all first started.
Dear Mr. Beaver,
THIS IS NOT AN AUTOMATED RESPONSE
Thank you for your submission to the FBI Internet
Tip Line. In as much as the FBI receives reports
of this type of activity on a regular basis there
is no need to forward any such additional emails
to us.
You indicate you are aware these solicitations are
fraudulent, so we will not caution you against
responding to them. However, we have included our
standard caution to the public, simply because it
contains information of which you may not be aware.
A review of the information you provided revealed
that you are being approached over the Internet to
participate in one of many variations of an
advance fee scheme being perpetrated by
individuals from various West African nations,
particularly Nigeria. This scam has also become
popular and perpetrated by individuals all over
the world, including in Korea and the UK. Victims
have lost substantial funds in the past and all
requests for travel to foreign locations should be
ignored. The United States Secret Service (USSS)
has developed an excellent, detailed description
of this fraud scheme, which can be accessed at
http://www.secretservice.gov/alert419.shtml. If
you have been victimized by one of these schemes,
please forward appropriate written documentation
to the USSS, Financial Crimes Division, 950 H
Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20223, or telephone
(202) 406-5850. We encourage you to share this Web
page with family and friends. Your continued
cooperation in this and other matters is greatly
appreciated.
You do not need to forward the emails to us. If
you have not, simply delete them from your
computer. Also, if you know that you are
receiving spam mail, it is advisable not to open
them, because even if you do not reply, the sender
has validated your email address. And, you may
get other spam mail.
For your information, the Internet Tip Line was
created on 9/11/01, in response to the terrorist
attacks upon America. We quickly established a
mechanism for the public to submit information to
the FBI via the Internet. Our operation is
completely automated and paperless. Submitted
tips are received immediately, reviewed within
minutes and prioritized by trained Professional
Support personnel, and Agents set action leads
within the hour, as appropriate.
We encourage you to share this information with
your family, friends, and co-workers, and
encourage them to not hesitate to submit
information they may deem of interest to the FBI.
IMPORTANT - NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
The FBI does not maintain an email address to
submit information or attachments to directly;
therefore, please do not reply directly to this
message via your email client. The FBI maintains
an automated system that is designed to track all
information received, to ensure that all tips are
addressed in a timely and efficient manner.
Therefore, please visit the FBI.GOV Web site again
should you have occasion to submit additional
information. We WILL NOT open or respond to

Send him an envelope with some white powder in it. That will take awhile for him to get confirmed inert. That may put him in a delema since he may not want to go to the authorities to get treated. It would draw to much attention.

How about:
I just discussed this with a friend of mine that is a lawyer and he told me that this is a common scam. How am I to know that this is for real? I wan to believe but I really have my doubts now. He said I'll never see a cent from you. Prove him wrong and send me $100 and I will send you the money immediately. -
What about this:
ATT: Assistant Director McDonelly
Location: Section 2234 South American
Division: Cyber Crimes SA332
Agent Number: XD5-88215
Update reply: The "individual" is currently under 24 hour surveillance. The "individual" is still under the impression that he is in correspondence with an "American woman" by the name of Iwana Raveab.
On 2 seperate occasions, photographs were requested, and false photographs were returned. These photographs were traced back to their original websites. The second photo was poorly manipulated to reproduce a sign of the "individual"s assistant holding a sign with the name Mr Prescott imposed on it.
The "individual" is unaware of our surveillance. We have enough information for a long-term conviction on the "individual".
REQUEST fTO HEAD OFFICE:
Equipment and man-power for "Operation Prescott Arrest" as required for the sting.
South African Deligate Authority documentation for the operation.
I await further intrustions from headquarters before actions are taken.

As Dr Gee mentioned posing as a FBI Agent is against the law... the only thing in the above thread is the term 'special agent'.... I think your ok as you do not denote FBI anywhere in the email.
Are you sending from a hotmail or 'anonymous' account so it cannot be tracked back to you. -
GuestGuestOriginally Posted by beavereater

Special Agent would be OK don't you think!? Its not limited to the FBI.
@Dr.Gee
You are right...gonna have to change that.SmileSmile
-
Pretty good but it needs polishing. Ditch the term "long term conviction". There is no such thing, and that gives away the message as being bogus. A conviction is a brief thing, done in the courtroom, that only lasts for an hour or so. It's the sentence that follows that could be long-term

Use this anonymous remailer to solve that problem - easy to use and free:

Make sure to correct your spelling errors (the words "separate" and "instructions" are misspelled) and check for others.
Note the sign said "Paul Prescott", not "Mr. Prescott".Ethernet (n): something used to catch the etherbunny -
I say email the FBI email you received to the person. That'll scare them s**tless and they probably won't do it for quite the long time.

First thing you might think of is all the spelling mistakes in your average scammail. Then the obvious grammer problems. The first is easily fixed by using an english version of spellcheck.
