I have had this problem with XTREAM LOK popping up every so often when playing video files. It even comes up sometimes when I am loading some web pages in I.E. Please, can someone tell me how to remove this CRAP??? I have tried several things, from removing any XLOK, XTREAM, etc files from my computer, to completely removing NORTON, and NOTHING has removed it yet. I dot know how it got there but I want it GONE...

open the registry and search for it to delete it
click start-run- regedit
the press CTRL-F (to open search) type the file name then delete everything associated with it
that should work -
Xtreamlok is file security software that prevents reverse-engineering of software packages. If you remove it you'll almost definitely break something on your system. Do you recall installing anything that mentioned Xtreamlok in the eula or docs?

Also, if you do edit your registry make sure you back it up first, unless you are a fan of reformatting.

I would gladly "break" something to get that Xtreamlok CRAP off my computer. It opens when I open certain video files. It opens when I visit certain websites, therefore closing any browsers I have open. it happens when I highlight certain files in EXPLORER, therefore causeing my windows/explorer session to re-open, a MAJOR annoyance since it makes it difficult to even delete the file causing the problem. sometimes I cant open a video file in ANY video program I have, on rare occasions I can open in one or two but not in the others. I have deleted XLOK and LOK and XTREAM and odd variations of files off the hard drive and from the registry. I *thought" it first occurred when I installed NORTON last year (but not 100% sure of that) and completely removed all NORTON files and references to no avail.
The same files that cause problems on one computer, will play on another computer, which makes me VERY afraid to even install anything video- or security-related on the second computer. This is especially bad as the second computer is SUPPOSED to be my media-center computer but I am very hesitant to complete it as I dont want the XTREAMLOK there because I WILL re-format that computer and start from scratch if it appears.

1st don't remove norton
2nd go to download.com and in the search box type "spyware" and select downloads not "in windows" click search
Then download
Ad-aware
spybot search and destroy
hijack this
Run all 3 and delete everything
Then see if it goes away.
Then go into regedit and search for the URL that it keeps going to and delete it from the registry
If Iexplorer gets screwed up go to miscrosoft.com and reload it from there
HTH Good luck aren't viruses fun :P
The videos that your trying to play, did you get them from kazaa or a similar sharing program? If so those are full of "Fake" videos that force IE to go to those sites -
Wait a minute, I think you might want to read what you just wrote. :P DO NOT delete everthink HiJack This picks up, you WILL regret it. Also, if you have an out of the box HP or Compaq stay away from Spybot Search and Destroy if you don't know what you are doing. Also, check out Bazooka Spyware and Adware Scanner, its good stuff.
