Ok, this might be a farfetched idea, or I might just be behind the times and not be very informed. But anyways.... So I just built my htpc, and its working fine and everything, plays all my mpeg4 (divx/xvid) flawlessly, etc etc. One thing I really like is having all the tv shows I captured with my pvr350 card archived neatly on dvd-rs. The only thing I dont really like however, is the lack of descriptions, etc for the different episodes. What I'm asking is, is it possible to encode a dvd using a different video format, mpeg4 opposed to mpeg2? This might be 100% impossible, and if so, then oh well. But the reason I ask if I would really like all the nice menus and such that I used to make in the past for all my tv shows before I started encoding them in mpeg4. It wouldn't even have to technically be in dvd format, I'm just looking for some kind of user-navigatiable menu to where I can see a short description of the episode, the number, etc, and then start playback. Im pretty sure this would be impossible through any sort of software dvd player, but maybe there would be another way to make it autoplay? I know this is pretty complicatied and I don't expect an easy answer, but I just thought I'd throw it out there. If only I could code, I'd make one myself. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can't make an mpeg4 DVD, or do anything else like that. If you want to take advantage of DVD's interactive features you are going to have to use either mpeg1 or mpeg2.
You can however have menus and other navigational functions with an mpeg4 clip if you use the asf container. This will take up some additional space I believe, but not much. As for how to do it? Couldn't tell you but I know its possible.
