  1. I downloaded a video from BT and it is in multiple rar files as well as .01 - .55 extensions and a sfv file.

I am familiar with this format when I download svcd through BT but this one won't extract for some reason - comes up with the error message "no files to extract"

anyone got any ideas on this???

    cheers

Extract from the very first rar file you see. It should be 00 or something like that.

Your bin and cue files are usually there.

  3. i did do that - but that is when the error message came up - u know of any other suitable programs to extract rar archives - although i am using winrar - so it probably ain't nothing to do with that

What error message did you get.

If you received something to the effect of header corruption, you can ignore the message.

I like winrar. I use it all the time. For compression and decompression, imo, it is the only thing you need.

  5. the one i mentioned above "no files to extract" - there is no option to continue - there is definately files to extract - taking up 1.4 gig on my hard drive an there is a bin file if i open it up - but it just ain't for extracting

i'm lost - been trying to do this for the last five hours

  6. there is also a rar file with the full title and when i try to extract that it says "no archives found" and in the error message box - it says the file is corrupted or damaged

please don't tell me that this file is lost

  7. The sfv file that is included is a file to check the rar files to see if there is any any errors or missing files . Have you tried running that file through a sfv checker to see if that could lead you to any information to what is wrong with the rar files?

  8. i downloaded sfv checker trialware but it didn't seem to work the way it suggested in the help files - you now any other sfv checker that would be appropriate??

  9. if it says the file is corrupted or damaged you're screwed. You'll have to redownload it. If the file was seeded with that problem you are just going to download another bad file. However it is not uncommon for a rar to get screwed up during a download.

  11. I use SFV Checker v1.09. Its really easy to use, just drag and drop the sfv file.

    Your best solution:

If the movie is available commercially, buy it. It is well worth the purchase to save you the hassle of mucking about with Bit Torrent downloads.

It's possible your copy of rar is corrupt.I've had this problem.Installed different copy and had no trouble.

  17. actually, your winrar is probably out of date. Get a new one from download.com otherwise the old wont extract the newer rars.
