  1. Ok I just bought a dvd burner and though let backup one of my dvds. Well this seemed impossible. (CSS Encryption) but I found the neat little program DVDshrink to work with nero..

Now When I do this, the whole process is about 1 hour 45 minutes. and the second one took 2 hours.

Is this a normal time to copy whole dvd?

    Computer Info:
    CPU: 1gig celron
    512 ram
    dvd-+rrw 12x write 4x rewrite 12x read
    40 gig HD

    any help would be great..

    Laters.

  4. It sounds like you might be ripping at 2X. I hope it's that, because your burns shouldn't take more than 15 minutes with that burner.

If you are ripping at 2X, that might be about right.

If you are using deep analysis and adaptive error compensation and the dvd needs to be shrunk at 80% and less then it will take a long time.

It'd depend on the compression ratio if any, lengh of the movie and burning speed, mostly. Also, ripping speed, as was mentioned B4.

For example, I got a Celeron 600 with only 384 MB RAM, and 4x burner; if I don't use any compression, use 4x blanks and movie is ~ 2hrs, I'll be done in under 1 hour.

    Hope it helps.

  8. I'll try those suggestions and reburn anothe dvd,,

More questions. I have 2 drives.
One DVD-Rom 8x then the burner.
the regular dvd-rom is master. Should I switch those and make the DVD RW the master?

Also I'm having difficulty findin how to disable DMA on the RW. Any suggestions? (Winsows XP Pro)

The longest part is the ripping/encoding, when it comes to the burning process it only burns for about 22-25 minutes.

  9. You don't want to disable DMA, you would want to make sure it is in DMA mode. You would want to disable PIO mode.
    Blah, blah, blah

You go to control panel, system icon, hardware, device manager, IDE controllers, click the + so you can see them, right click on properties, advanced, and there you should have "DMA if available".
Still a few bugs in the system...
