Okay, I started with a xvid with ac3. I converted the audio to wav and then to mp2. I used tmpgenc to produce a m1v file and then multiplexed with the mp2 that I made earlier. Now I have one big mpg1 file, and I want to burn it to vcd. So I go into tmpgenc to do it, and instead of the time remaining going down, it is going higher and higher. Is there a qucker way to make a vcd? How about cutting the mpg? If anyone can help me, please do! I'll be waiting...

    Peace,

thank you for answering me. I'm glad that you mentioned nero, because thats something else that I have been having a problem with. But first things first. I am aware that I can burn my vcd with Nero, but the thing is that the file is too long to fit on one disk, so I have to split it in half as always. I never used tmpgenc to process mpg files, because they were already mpgs! I don't think that I need to encode it again, I just need to split it. and the only way that I know how is to do it is with tmpgenc. so what I am wondering is should I split it with virtualdub or somthing? I just can't see encoding something that is actually ready to burn, you know. Unless maybe the multiplexed (m1v and wav) file is not vcd compliant or something. As for Nero, I love the program. But since I did a clean re-install of xp (plus all updates), nero is only recognizing the image recorder. It doesn't even list my lite-on cdburner that it used to. Whats up with that?

Thank you for helping me out.

    Peace,

By any chance did you upgrade to Service Pack 2? For some people Nero and Service Pack 2 do not get along. If so, the only things you could do are uninstall Service Pack 2, wait for a fix from Microsoft, or wait for a fix from Ahead.

I have not downloaded the sp2 update yet. I am going to check out the Nero website and see if I can update it. But even if I can, if the vcd file is too long for an 80 min disk, don't I have to cut it before loading it into Nero?

    thanks for your help!
