  1. OK, this one's really got me scratching my head.

My PC powers back on after a power outage, despite being set in BIOS to remain off after power is restored. Now here is the weird thing ...

Only happens when my Ethermet NIC is installed. Tried moving it to a different slot thinking the braket might be touching something and shorting out, but it makes absolutely no difference where it is.

NIC works fine and all else is working fine -- just this one nagging problem. Any thoughts ???

I wish I could help you out.

    If I had to guess..

The power supply might be going out.

Have you tried a different nic?

Sounds like a "Wake on Lan" setting needs to be changed for the ethernet card. I think you can do that in the BIOS and in the power management for Windows.

  4. Gitreel,

Got an Antec TruPower 430 and the voltages look fine on MBM. No other wierd problems, instability, etc., so I'm not very inclined to think it is a PSU problem.

I haven't tried another NIC yet, but will give that a shot later.

Just curious if anyone had any ideas.

    Capmaster --

I thought about that yestrday and it slipped my mind to check it this morning. Will defiitely do that and report back.

    Thanks !!

The only other things I could think of is to try another nic or flash the motherboard.

    Windows XP:
Right Click, my computer then properties, then Advanced then startup and recovery (settings) then you will see (under system failure) uncheck "Automatically Restart".
