Pretty sad stuff :P -
i think they offend people because of the honesty. when you're that low in life you'll do anything for money.
I don't see the filmakers should be sued, what does that achieve? if people allow themselves to fall so low in life they have no clue what they're doing, who am i to stop them making $5 for punching another guy or jumping off a building. that's what stuntmen do for a living, just bigger numbers.
Ironic thing is of course one of the guys is now reformed, sober and working - because of all the legal humdrum. where woul dhe be if the kids hadn't got involved? still on the streets as another fuckup. -

You know that guy who straightened up after being on the show? He's still suing the producers of the video. -

okay, without taking into account the moral implications of using a vunerable or incapable adult for these videos, let's just look at some of the legal issues.
- apparently, in some jurisdictions, paying individuals to fight each other in an unlicensed context is illegal. was the filming done in one of those locales?
- was a release signed by the participants, allowing the producers to videotape their activities and sell that tape?
- if a release was signed, were all the participants compos mentis?
- does being intoxicated or legally incompetent nullify any release or contract?
also, IIRC*, these guys had social workers who checked in on them regularly, and at some points the producers were actively hiding the guys so that the social workers couldn't meet with them and see the physical injuries they'd sustained for the camera. Illegal? not sure. Shady as hell? yep.
find me some guys who are in their right mind and legally of age to do stupid shit like this, and I'm all for it. even closer to the mark - find me a few bums who've got their hands on a video camera and did this stuff themselves, and that would be another matter.
but for some guys to search out some hard-core alcoholic street people, and pay them a pittance to hurt themselves or each other, so that they can profit from people who think it's "funny as hell", I can't get behind it.- housepig

What if we got some fugly people who aren't mentally f**ked, but may look like a downsie or retard, and got them to sign the waivers and all other legal jazz. Then make a video of them beating each other to f**k a dog. The winner, after his dog shagging session, then has to climb (naked) up a coarse twine rope if he decides he wants double the money.
OR
Have them break various weak boards with their hands, and then give a cork board with a metal rod hidden in it. Heck you can do it like a russian roulette by breaking it over their head. The winner then has to give oral sex to the previously mentioned dog for double the money. -
thats the stupiest shit i've ever seen.
whoever thinks that's funny, is seriously retarded.
