I started out with Tmpgenc, and it's worked great. I learned about setting audio and video bitrates.
I have been looking at other tools (e.g. QuEnc and FreeEnc), and they have settings for (just) bitrate. Is this a video bitrate, and the audio is assumed to be at the default of 224 kbits/sec? Or something else?
Thanks in advance....

i think for video encoding, the bitrate refers to the bitrate of the video.
in tmpgenc there is a a tab to set audio bitrate when encoding. -
