  1. is there anyway to start a thread with a poll that can be voted in, but not commented in?

If you're a mod you could create a thread with a poll and then lock it. not sure if the lock would stop the poll working though...

Just tried, it locked the poll also. No go.

  5. What do you have in mind? You can set a poll up with
a request not to post comments and the Mods can remove
    any that do post.

  6. As offline suggests, why not just politely request that nobody posts up, only votes?

Unless the post is a sticky, without comments, it will sink fast (hence, little to no votes).

  8. well even though politics is banned. i was going to see if baldrick would let a US presidential poll allowed the week before the election.

    [poll question]
    who would you vote for?

    [options]
    john kerry
    george w. bush
    ralph nader/other
    would/can not vote

i didnt want it to break out in to a political debate, so thats why i would have wanted to lock the thread, but still allowed voting. even if you ask for no posts, i'm sure it would break out in to a huge arguement.
