  1. Would anyone be as kind to list the steps needed to fix the "unsupported file" error in Tmpgenc when attempting to import a dv2 file created in DVD2AVI.

I've tried fixes I've found posted in the forum (the VFAPI fixes and I also installed the DIVX codecs recommended)and I still can't get the error message to go away. I figure I must be missing the boat somewhere. I'm using the newest version of DVD Ripper 2.38, DVD2AVI 1.82, and Tmpgenc 2.01 I'm also using XP as my OS.

    Thanks in advance,

  2. Go to Options->Environmental Settings->VFAPI Plug-in. Uncheck the box marked AVI(OpenDML) File reader.
    Retry and enjoy. Regards, Esa-Matti

  3. This can happen if you created your D2V file with a prior version of DVD2AVI and then tried to open the D2V into TMPGEnc after you've upgraded to a new version of DVD2AVI. I see you're using v1.82 of DVD2AVI so it seems possible this happened.

Try upgrading to the new v1.84 version of DVD2AVI, recreate your D2V file without Audio (you can use your old wav) and then try to open the new D2V in TMPGEnc.

Hopefully that will solve the problem

dvd2avi 1.82 by OGO came without a dvd2avi.vfp. Use v1.76 or 1.84 by Gloval instead.
Btw, these so-called new versions are not spectacular. OGO added some resize features, that do not work with the frameserver (probably the most used option of dvd2avi) and Gloval added .mp3 audio conversion, but did NOT adopt the resize features. So if you use dvd2avi to frameserve MPEG-2 files to a encoder, you can stay with the original dvd2avi 1.76.

  5. WOW, thanks everyone for the great suggestions. This forum ROCKS!!! I'll try to figure it all out tonight at home. BTW, one thing I haven't tried either is the Forced Film option in DVD2AVI. Maybe that helps also...
