Hi all!
I am having a problem with pixelation and noise near the end of a movie. I know that some of you are going to say that "it's your media" but I have tried Sony DVD-R, Maxell DVD+RW / DVD-R, Fuji DVD-R, and Verbatim DVD-R(W). Now what happens is that near the end of the movie I get chopiness, some pauses, and blockiness. I am using Decrypter 3.1.9.0 to rip in file mode and then encode with Shrink (ver 3.17). I usually only back-up the movie with one soundtrack which usually makes compression at around 70-90% sometimes even 100% BUT I still get chopiness.
I have a:
Athlon 2800+
with a gig of ram
Plextor 708A
my standalone is my Xbox
Any suggestions?

It's your media.
Sorry - I know you didn't want to hear that, but it's about the only thing I can think of that will cause an otherwise good burn to get choppy, pixelated and blocky only near the end at the edge of the disc.
The only other thing I can think of is that the source material really does get ratty near the end, but I'm assuming you've already ruled that out. -
Try playing them on a real standalone, not an xbox. Some DVD loaders can read thru errors others cannot. Does the xbox use an IDE loader?

Thanks for your input! I kinda had a feeling it could be the media. But the strange thing is that I was using good stuff (maybe a bad batch or something).
Wulf109: I don't know if my Xbox uses an IDE loader. How would I check? -
I have found that on some media, if I try to burn it faster than the rated speed, I get the problems you described.
If I burn the same source at the rated speed, the movie plays fine.
