  1. I need a good burner that will read DVD-RAM discs. I don't care about recording to RAM, I'll record to DVD-R, I just need to be able to copy from RAM. Most of my discs are double sided, so I need something that is compatible with 9.4 RAMs. I would prefer a burner that would accept the cartridges, but that's not a big deal. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend the 16X Lite-On 166S, it can raed any disk you throw at it, be it dvd ram, dvd+r/rw, dvd-r/rw, cdr/rw etc..

ive never have a problem with it.

Also, the fastest drive to rip dvds.

Sorry, i misread your post, you mentioned a burner, the Lite-On is a dvd rom drive, not a burner.

  5. The Toshiba SD-M1712 DVD-ROM drive will read DVD-RAM discs, but it will not read them in a cartridge.

The LG GSA-4082B will read and write to DVD-RAM discs, but again, will not read them in a cartridge.

If you're going to go LG, why not go all the way and get the GSA-4120B? Dual format, Double Layer and writes DVD-RAM at 5x.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

  7. Does anyone out there own the LG drive? Does it perform well? It's looking pretty good from what I can find about it. I don't like the quality of toshiba's products.

  11. Isn't a ROM drive a read only and not a burner?

  13. LG GSA-4xxx models read and write DVD-RAM, but so far as I know none of the take cartridges.

My -4082B's are solid, reliable burners, and they burn everything.

  14. Are the LG and the Pioneer compatible with the double sided 9.4 Ram discs? I can't find anything that says they are or are not. When I was looking into drives a year and a half or so ago I was told the Pioneer wouldn't work on double sided RAM discs.
