On the last post, I told the story that any 2D application screams on my Nvidia FX5600 256mb card, but all 3D applications (call of duty and doom3) crash to the desktop.
One poster recommended that my video card was being fidgetty and I should look into another brand...so I reinstalled my old Mx440 64mb to see if it would cure my problems, but I got the same crashing problems.
I contacted BFG and they sent me a list of items to look at in the bios...went there and double checked everything...they all looked fine.
after all this...still bad 3D
But wait...it gets better! Now IE6 crashes almost every time it's opened for a few minutes AND now I get random computer restarts.
The system temp is sitting at 45c and the cpu temp is 66c
Checked ENTIRE system with anti-virus and came up goose-eggs.
what do you think? bad mobo? bad AGP port? corrupted OS?
As always...thanks in advance...

Corrupted driver maybe?
Try downloading a new one, uninstall the driver and reinstall the new one pointing it to the driver, and not using the automatic search -
Did that to no avail...
Tried new drivers (twice).
Tried to roll back drivers
Tried installing old drivers from disk
[sigh] nothing has been working...
Might try one last time on the drivers tonight. -

I try and another PS before losing any more hair -
hmmmm...might be a good call. I have a 300w PS running these the computer with these PCI's:
AGP Nvidia FX 5600
PCI Sound Blaster Audigy
PCI USB2.0
PCI Firewire
PCI Ethernet
The PS might be overtaxed? :P -
808smokey's suggestion is a good one. Power supplies are also often mislabeled, so a "300W" supply might really be a 230W one
Another possibility: Motherboard. -
Power supplies are all-important. However I think it odd that going back to an MX440 would cause further instability than with the power-leeching GFX. Bad AGP ports usually result in funny artifacts or crazy colors happening, not often do they result in reboots unless the actual card isn't sitting in there snug (losing contact). Does your GFX card have an additional power connector? That particular engine usually requires a 250W (rated) minimum power supply.
If you do go shopping for power supplies look at Antec True or Neo series or PC Power and Cooling:

The turbo 510W from PC P&C is one of the best power supplies ever made for an ATX case *drool*
