  1. Where is a cheap place to buy a video stabilizer to remove macrovision at a good price. Mine quit working. I bought it off ebay for around $20 a couple years ago, now the cheap ones are about $35 and up.

  2. I stopped by the local Ultimate Electronics and picked up one of the Sima things to remove macrovision. It did remove it but caused the picture to be all jittery. Then I got the thing from facet video because of the no questions asked policy. It worked better but there were still problems with the picture on the capture that weren't there on the normal playback. So I've tried all the cheap things and can tell you that they may work sometimes but it's just not worth it. I ended up going to the full blown TBC with the AVT-8710. Still haven't gotten it yet but I have high hopes considering everyones comments here. It's about 200 bucks but if it fixed all the problems then it'll be worth it.

  3. I was thinking about an AVT-8710. May I ask where you ended up ordering it? I thought about bhphotovideo.com for $195, but they only have a 7 day return option on video equipment. I found markertek.com for $210, $15 more, but they have a 30 day retrun policy.

  4. Actually I ordered it from bhphotovideo.com mainly because I couldn't find it easily on other sites and LordSmurf recommended them on his website. Between the facts that he knows so much about all this stuff and the fact that everyone raves about the AVT-8710 that I figured I would take the recommendation. I figure that with all the experiences everyone has commented on about it being so good I wouldn't have to worry about returning it.

You can also look into the Datavideo TBC-1000.....it removes all sorts of copy protection and re-syncs the video for a stable picture, and is indeed full-frame. Costs about $300 but can get it for $279 at www.evsonline.com
I ordered mine about a week ago, but unfortunately it was a DOA . I returned it and am expecting my replacement to arrive tomorrow. This one better work because I really look forward to putting it to use.

I own both AVT-8710 and the TBC-1000 both work extremely removing macrovision. My favorite is the AVT-8710 because of the additional features such as brightness, tint, contrast, sharpness and color controls.

The TBC-1000 is a great product, my only real problem with it is it makes the video softer causing the sharp areas in the video to a bit soft. 8)
