  1. Hi, here's what I wanna do, I'd like to place a dolby digital video, or a dts, you know, like the ones on movie theaters, before the movie begins, before the studios clip, I like seeing that thingy at the beggining of a movie, and almost none have them, can that be done?

Probably. But first make sure of where you stand legally before inserting any copyright-protected logos in your videos.

I found exactly the tool a couple of days ago that will add any clip before the movie begins.

    Try pgcedit, its freeware too

like Capmaster suggested, try not to insert any copy protected logos, instead, try creating one of your own clips or insert a non copyprotected clip.

    hope this helps

  4. I don't think it's violating copyright if I insert a dolby digital to a movie that has Dolby digital sound, I mean, the studios payed for the dolby digital, or how does that work?? I just don't know why they don't put those clips on the dvds, they are cool, :P anyway, I don't know if I made myself clear?

    Hello,
If your just adding them to your home backups that you ripped I can't imagine there will be a problem.

The other option is some author programs let you add intro videos. As long as they support ac3/dts just add the trailer clip. Happy burning.

Im a little confused Capmaster. are dolby digital and dts clips copy protected?

im pretty sure they are not copy protected cos i found a link (through videohelp.com of course):

https://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/t222710.html which gives a link to download dolby, dts ot thx trailers.

as all dvds contain dolby audio and some also contain dts audio, the majority of these dvds will also have the dolby clip that plays before the movie begins. wouldn't it be the individuals choice whether he/she wishes to leave the clip in or get rid of it, or even include it in another dvd.

    I said copyright-protected, not copy-protected

Mirwais, yes the program does look a little complicted to use. but if you have used ifoedit before, you'll find it quite simple.

to insert the clip in pgcedit, click on open dvd and selct your dvd

then click on the macros menu, and then click on Import First-Play (Startup) Clip, check the "Don't Pause: its a animated clip" box and click continue...

now go to the target vob you wish to clip.

pgcedit looks for ifo files so it dont have them, you can only create one using ifoedit.

Sorry, my mistake, i meant to say copyright protected.

But also consider this, dvds we all backup that we own are also copyright protected which movie studios will prevent any consumer from doing (for example the case with 321 studios; dvdxcopy)

however, we as a consumer has a right to make one personal backup copy of a copyright protected dvd we own. hence, shouldn't the same principle also apply to dolby, dts trailers for dvds that have dolby or dts audio.
