  1. I have windows 2k Pro installed in my machine. I bought a USB port hub so that i can connect my External CD Writer, WebCam and Scaner(Since my machine has only 2 usb ports available).

But the machine is not booting if plugin all theree writer, scaner and webcam). while booting the webcam light is keep blinking. If I plug in any two of them it is working.

anybody can tell me what is the problem.

Some USB devices do not get along on the same channel. Consider that using a hub splits a single channel into several ports that the devices share. In addition, most motherboard's build in USB and most low-end USB cards with two ports are actually a single 12-mbps channel split in two.
Consider getting yourself a single, four-port card that gives you four ports with each port on it's own channel. I am sure there are many cards available to do this. I use the ADS card. Belkin also makes one:

I have not look extensively, but my searches have not revealed any combination cards that claim independent USB channels. I would love to find one, though.

There are a lot of combo cards out there that have both firewire and USB. What I was saying is that I have not seen a firewire/USB combination card that has all of the USB ports on their own channel.
