DVD+Rw not errasing

ok i used a DVD+rw and now i want to erase the files..when i do that..i get an error saying":
"the wizard cannot finish erasing the disc and has stopped the process. please try erasing this disc again to make sure that the disc is ready to reuse"

is there any software that can help me erase the files?
