I've connected my old Tivo-full-o-stuff to a notebook PC that's running XP MCE. I can view the video input using MCE's TV app, but it introduces a slight delay. That makes using the Tivo's remote really frustrating.
I'd like an app that displays incoming video as close to real-time as possible. It doesn't need to record, I just essentially want to turn the PC into a monitor for the Tivo's S-Video output and sound.
Any suggestions on a Windows app that shows DirectShow input from an external video source with no delay?

That being said, once you figure out the kinks, it's not bad for the price. -
I use iuVCR for capture, but it also previews in real time.

Check out VLC, it is not directshow based, but it may do what you want.
