Hello !
I was thinking that it might be a good idea to make a profile in XP Pro that is only used when editting video. This profile should have maximum resources allocated to the job going on, which meens that there is no need for LAN/Internet, Antivirus- and firewall software etc. Could anyone tell me if it is possible to such a profile and give me a link to a "How To"-page?
Thank's :P

i dont think you will save much time by doing this.
the cpu is the most importent thing in video conversion, and most computers- if left alone , dont use much of the cpu power anyway.
you could free the RAM by doing this, but again - it will not save you
more then a few minuts.HELL AINT A BAD PLACE TO BE -
But if programs are running in the background it is bound to take some of the resources. I am using Norton Antivirus (2004) and Firewall (2003) and know that thay take up some resources.
I just thought that it would be great to have a totally clean profile that was only for video editting.

How to create a Hardware Profile - XP
1. My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Hardware Profiles
2. Copy Profile1 (current) to Profile2
3. Highlight Profile2 > Properties
4. Tick box > Hardware profiles selection
5. Reboot system > Select Profile2 at selection screen.
6. Once Xp has loaded with this profile go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager.
7. Disable what you want to disable.
8. Do the same with Control Panel > Administrative tools > Services. -
Here`s a great xp (and Win 2000) service profile site:
http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm
and if you`ve read everything and downloaded the `safe` config, you can download other configs here:
http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/registry.htm
I`d probably go for the `gaming` config, and disable internet/server related services. -
