Hi, i'm newbie in video convertion =P

so, i've been using TMPGEnc 2.521 and Xpress to try to convert some DIVX and i'm getting a lot of problems like, video without sound or i can't convert at all.
Now i've got DVD2SVCD, i tried to do a test, i tried the convertion to SVCD, everything was well, so when start to converted, TMPGEnc was opened and it would take almos 4 hours to convert the video, is that right?? does it take too long??

Other problem that i got, was when i tried to split the video, everything seemed to be ok, but when i played on Media Player, it didn't work, and using WINDVD, the video played without sound ¬¬

Can you help? or where can i find some tutorial???

    thank you =)

Yeah 4 hours is common depending on file size. Much faster programs cannot do such a high quality that it does.

I think you can find some guides for TMPG on this great site!

Dvd2svcd isnt an encoder,it uses an external program such as tmpgenc or cinema craft encoder or procoder to produce finished files that can be burned as svcd, vcd or dvd, tmpgenc by itself is an encoder which i find very good and virtualdub is an avi editor, capture and frameserving and also used to encode xvid and and divx and other assorted avi. These programs arent better than each other cause they are used for different applications.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

A program I like for XVID especially is TheFilmMachine. Good for fast, easy conversion to DVD. It also works with most DIVX.

One of the common problems with DIVX conversion to DVD is AC3 VBR audio. TMPGEnc doesn't like it.

If you have any type of AVI file, you need to run it through AVIcodec or similar to see exactly what you are dealing with. You may run into something like OGG audio, which take a little more work to convert.

DVD2SVCD is a great program, but you need to know a lot to use it properly with XVID.

ok, thanks for all your help!!

but now i'm get a little mixed up
i've always use Tmpgenc to convert mpg and mpg2, and everything was well...

but, which program is better to convert to svcd and vcd, and split videos in AVI, DIVX and XVID??

    I've got a Divx 4 video with AC3 audio, i can't convert at all ¬¬
and ohter is Divx with MP3 audio.

in the second video i tried to extract the audio, using Virtualdub and use Tmpgenc to convert to svcd, but the video loses the syncronism with the audio in the preview using tmpg xpress 3 ¬¬

using virtualdub, is there a way to re-save in AVI file and try to convert into Tmpgenc???

well i think i won't watch theses concerts on my dvd player lol....
