Anyone know a decent software for creating a 3D intro screen for a DVD collection? You nkow the ones that usually show the company logo and can't be skipped when you play on a stand-alone player....the but that plays on DVD insertion into the machine and is before the main menu appears? yes, thats it!....anyone know whats a decent easy-to-use program for creating simple forms of these animations? I've tried Cool 3D, Serif 3D Plus and Xara 3D, but none produced good results and weren't easy to get into MPEG Movie format for adding to the DVD compilation. Thanks

  2. Check out Blender it is freeware and it will render to uncompressed AVI as well as any directshow codec you have installed.

I use MAXONS Cinema 4d which is ace but steep learning curve i also have used cool 3d, it is basic and long render times considering its simplicity but as long as you specify in your NLE to treat the footage as LOWER FIELD first the quality should be fine (this tooke me ages to figure out lol) this apply's to loads of apps i.e Cinema 4d . After Effects etc.

Caligari is GIVING AWAY trueSpace 3.2, now. It is free and they even give you a serial number! They will advertise to you but I've always been in love with trueSpace. It is one of the best modeling programs around. 3.2 is a little behind in the times but it is free! And is not a cracked version that will be most likely filled with malicious code! Yay!

I just made some transitions between menus for a DVD that make you fly through 3D rendered intestines between screens!

Have you seen the beggining credits of "Ninth Gate" Johnny Depp film, its like a never ending passage way/corridor with the credits coming at you, i guess it wouldnt be to hard to do in most 3d apps, i personally cant model for s**t, i have a go but i find it soo hard been looking for ages for a 3d model of Thunderbird 2, anyone have one??

Still texturing it and am working on making 2 others, with diffeent turns in them and possibly different colored light so people don't see the same video tranistion between screens. The ending of each is going to come out of an "O" that is a part of the Menu screen you make it to. For instance, you start zooming in on a menu until you go through an "O" in some of the writing on the main menu and pop out an "O" on the SPECIAL FEATURES page. Also gonna have muffled sounds coming through while you travel along.
