    i want to open a ntsc dvd into tmpgnec, i intend to rip it with dvd decryptor. what type of file should i set it to rip to, eg vob or iso etc

    The method you want to rip is an individual choice. If you decide to burn the dvd straight away after ripping, then choose iso image, provided it is a dvd5.

    If you want to edit the dvd first, either compress it or encode it to a different fromat, then choose file mode which contains all the vobs, ifos, bups etc etc...

    ive not used tmpgnec, so im gessing you will ant to edit the dvd, so go for file mode.
